A research assistant and software engineer interested in the field of AI and specifically in Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing, and Computer Vision. More recently, I am specializing in LLMs research and deployment. I am skilled in programming with more than 8 years of experience. I have worked on projects ranging from app and websites development, to game develpment, to training and deploying state-of-the-art AI models.
As an RA, I was involved in a research project about "Just-in-Time Software Defect Prediction". I performed experiments of efficient fine-tuning of pre-trained code models for this task and compared our approach to competitive baselines. We improved the state-of-the-art results by up to 12% and published our findings in a Q1 impact scientific journal.
In my graduation project, I worked on the task of "Automatic Summarization & Segmentation of Educational Recordings". We built a fast and intelligent system that can generate concise summaries from education recordings for students to read and review with. We built it to reduce the relience on heavy and expensive LLMs like ChatGPT for such simple tasks. In this project, I was responsible for training and deploying the models in our application.
Currently, I am an RA at Khalifa University where I am working on utilizing LLMs and VLLMs for health videos analysis. We have built a platform, medicern.ai, that provides everyone with acccess to high quality medical and health videos with the help of an LLM that do video ranking. I am involved in other LLM related projects, including conversation analysis, open-source vision models, and efficient LLM deployment. I also work with a different team on developing XR experiences in the UTM Domain (Unmanned Aeiral Vehicle Traffic Management). My prior experiences in AI, Game Development and research my skills, allowing me to contribute in this job from day one. My current role also provided me with great learning and growth opportunities, further improving my knowledge in AI deployment, cloud computing, and scientific research.
In terms of science and research, I am interested in understanding how advanced AI models such as LLMs work. Scientists have already been researching this, obviously, but there is still a lot to explore. Also, some of my specific interests relate to the Arabic language. For example, Arabic Speech Recognition, Grammar Correction, and OCR. I am interested in exploring cultural, security, and privacy aspects of AI models in the Arabic language.
I love to do Game Development on the side. I have built a whole website that was dedeicated to Arabic tutorials for Unity game development. I have built many games solo and with teammates as an Indie Game Developer and you can see them in the Projects Section.
I also enjoy competitive programming. I have participated in the Gulf Programming Contest 2022 and won the first place with my team: Kamal and Abdulrahman.
Outside of technology, I enjoy cycling, reading some manga, reading self-improvement and fictional books.
I do my best to respond to all inquiries quickly, generally within a day or two.
